Today's Black History shout out goes to designer Alvin Bell.
The Philadelphia native began as an illustrator for Halston and Anne Klein before rising to national prominence as the designer of sexy, pricey, couture-like PSI suits.

Bell later worked for Sears, designing their Mosaic clothing line for women of color. Of the line, he once said, “I want to dress the urbane customer who goes to church and then goes for a drink and a barbecue afterwards."
