And for all you stylistas wondering who designed Michelle's banded red and black ombre "victory" dress:It came straight off the runway from Narciso Rodriguez's Spring 2009 collection!

It would have been very commendable if you had noted that it was Red Carpet Fashion Awards who you got this from.

But I guess you wanted to fool your audience into believing you actually know about fashion.

  5. lol i have noticed that everytime claire has a post about where a celebrity's outfit comes from, there is an "anonymous" person who always tries to find fault in that. So what if she doesnt mention it. maybe she sent an email to them or they have an understanding. Stop with the hate. its really an exciting moment and this is HER BLOG. she can do whatever she wants and you have the option of leaving or not showing up here at all.

    Good job Claire!

Anon, maybe you find it hard to believe that a BLACK site could find the dress on their own? Wow. get a freaking life.

  8. I agree with you Tee. I think this dress looks much better on Michelle's beautiful figure.

I'm sorry, but that was not the most flattering dress. I know that she is a very conservative dresser, but this one time she could have chosen something a little more flattering. I am hoping that her dress for Jan. 20 is a much better choice. Oprah, help a sister out.

  10. I was wondering about the dress... I actually liked it but it looked like Michelle wasn't 100% comfortable in it (she kept pulling her cardigan over her shoulder).

Regardless, that dress is gonna go down in history... I lost it when I saw the family... Never felt so happy before... I think that my Dad cried too!

    Thanks for the post Claire!

I completely disagree with "Tee." I thought the dress was nice on Michelle but on the model it looks excellent, mostly because the model isn't covering with a shrug. The straps make that dress. But Michelle rocked it ok. Most fashionable first lady since Jackie O.

  12. I think Michelle Obama looks fabulous most of the time - classic, but fresh. However, when I saw this dress on TV last night, I thought it was some serious fugly...maybe it was the perspective from the camera, maybe the shrug, I'm not certain - but it wasn't flattering at all. (Now that Palin's stylist is unemployed, maybe she could work for Michelle...?)

Good news is it's not a big deal - I adore that woman & her family, and am prouder of my country than I have ever been in my 45 years.

Hate to be negative, BUT... I was not a fan of this dress for this occasion on Michelle. I thought it looked artsy and not polished enough.
Would have liked to seen a designer suit, something more tappered and with less flare. Also would love to see her hair restyled and much more polished. Looking forward to the changes.

Simply put it makes her look fat and not the nice kind of fat that can make a woman look like a woman, but the kind that says "I have had too many burgers". At least as first lady she will have help from now on.

I personally did not like the dress very much. I think Michelle is great, but this was not her best outfit pick-especially on such a monumental night. Nevertheless Go Obama family, go!!

This was a terrible wardrobe choice for such a momentous night. I typically love NR, but this was just wrong. It didn't look great on her, and just seemed so out of place for the moment.

With all due respect to the First Lady, Mrs. Obama has a very long way to go before she deserves any comparison to Jacquelyn Kennedy.

I love Michelle Obama's dress. I love her style! She is a black woman from the city. We urban black women have a different take on style. Thank goodness for that. I love her dress. She is a educated urban diva, not a suburban white woman. I hope she always mixes it up like all black women. She does not have to apologize for her style or alter it. You don't see us complaining about the boring, lackluster clothes, soccer moms wear do you?

P.S. I am neutral on politics, not style. Please stay fly Michelle !!! Don't let them make you into a plain jane suburban woman, who is scared of color!!!!!

While people are complaining bout Ms. Obama's stylish dress, did anybody notice Sarah Palin period??? Her hair and glasses were a hot, sloppy, mess!!! She would have on a fly suit, then blow it with that mammy made updo and cheap looking, played out, glasses. Before we discuss Ms. Obama's wardrobe..can we all chip in and pay for a new hairdo and some contacts for Ms. Palin???

Ms Palin please lose the mammy made updo and cheesy glasses. You are a good looking woman...why not wok it honey?

I like that Michelle comes across as just an woman next door, but she's extremely smart. I read on some other blog that someone was calling her ugly, too urban for Barack, and etc. But, I think she's beautiful. I like the way she speaks, carries herself, and I like how she supports her husband. You rarely get to see black women, black wives, black mothers put in the media the way that Michelle has been. I appreciate it for what it's worth that the Obama family has a chance to show America that black families are just like everyone else's family just people who work hard, and go to sleep at night.

I would love to see the dress styled more on Michelle. Maybe with scarlett slip and a shorter sleeve on a more detailed cover up
