The Fashion Bomb Celebrates: Scott Barie

Today's Black History Hallelujah/Hollaback goes to Scott Barrie, a designer who established himself on 7th avenue in the late 1960's.

Barrie specialized in eveningwear made out of jersey fabric. His clients included model Naomi Sims and Lee Traub, wife of Bloomingdale's then-president.

In 1969, Barrie established his company, Barrie Sport, and moved into his workroom at 530 Seventh Avenue. He ceased designing under his own name in 1980,and later on worked as a designer for dress company S.E.L., Italian Design house Krizia, and the Japanese firm Kinshido. He died at the age of 52 of brain cancer.
