Red Carpet Trend: Embellishments

Hey,
Voting is go sooo well for the Contest! I love how the poll gives results right after you vote; and how the system's set up so overzealous supporters can't vote more than once. Genius! Voting ends tomorrow morning!
Until then, I'm gonna take a quick break from 'Real Style' to talk about a hot red carpet trend: embellishments.
Stars have truly been shining lately, donning frocks and tops decorated with stones, sequins, gromments, and crystals. Let's take a look:
Ciara...
...flaunts a body skimming dress artfully decorated with bronze stones at the 2007 World Music Awards in Monaco.
Kelly Rowland...
..looks scintillating in a midnight blue strapless dress peppered with black crystals at the 2007 European Music Awards in Germany.
Kerry Washington...Source
...is simply divine in this silver stoned number at the ACE awards last night in NYC (and I'm lovin her Christian Louboutin Bling Bling Peep-Toe Pumps...too bad they're $1,325!)
And Alicia Keys...
...shines in a floor length gray sequined gown.
If you want a more casual embellished look, Cassie does it well...
... wearing jeans with a simple yet chic stone decorated top at the MTV awards.
And Toccara gets in on the trend....
..with a chocolate brown sequined tank.
Want an embellished look?
If you want to go all out (think New Years or night on the town), these dresses fit the bill:

I wasn’t feeling AK’s shoes in that pic. I didn’t think people still wore strappy’s that much anymore… It makes everything look dated. And I’m particularly feeling anything with black or onyx stones.

Subtle Details definately make an outfit really pop!! check out what this stylist on artfulwears.com had to say about how embellished details can really make or break an outfit:
Subtle details truly make an outfit, in fact this seems to be a major media focus these days. So I thought I would share some of my thoughts with you on this topic.
First of all, what do I mean by subtle details? Let’s say you are wearing a solid chocolate brown dress. Obviously anyone can throw on some brown shoes, walk out the door, and look ok. However, YOU want to look fabulous. Chocolate is easy to accessorize since it’s a neutral. Maybe you put a great pair of turquoise shoes with it, a print bag, and a great pair of earrings. Or perhaps you go with a patterned shoe. There are so many ways to shake things up. The way to make your accessories less obvious is for them to coordinate, but not match.
So you if you are wearing turquoise shoes, you can still go for a turquoise earring because the earring is so far from the shoe. We don’t suggest that you do a turquoise bag because that is too obvious. Pull another color in to your look or go for anther neutral, maybe ivory or silver. You could even grab a bright red bag, yellow, purple, or a multitude of other shades.
We also like the idea of playing with other neutral colors besides black and white. Black and white are not the only neutrals in existence. Try adding gold, silver, ivory, taupe, chocolate, or dark blue.
Adding one accessory that really pops off your outfit makes a bold statement. It could be a great piece of jewelry, scarf, bag, or shoes. Just don’t over it do it.
