NYScene: Vogue and BMW Event

Fashion Week kicked off last night with a star-studded Vogue/BMW event and The Fashion Bomb was in the house, of course!I kicked it on the red carpet with loyal readers and Fashion Bombshells Pietrina and Joy, who were sporting some fierce, camera-ready Real Style. We even had us a lil' exercise in workin' the Top Model poses and faces! Inside, the action centered around this ultra-luxe, 7-series Beemer, which Franca Sozzani, Vogue Italia's Editor-in-Chief, helped to design. I spotted quite a few celebs working the room, including FB favorites Joy Bryant, Chanel Iman, and Arlenis Sosa.Of course, I had to ask C. Iman about the new "Gossip Girl" scoop reported by our very own Vuitton. She shared that she's always looking to try her hand at new opportunities, and seemed really excited about striking a pose in front of the (TV) camera. You know we'll be tuning in!I also chatted with Chanel's mom, China Robinson(between Chanel and I, above), who often travels with Chanel and is enjoying seeing the world herself. Both mother and daughter were lovely as can be and it's clear where this top model gets her inner and outer glow from. And yes, that's none other than Fashion Bomb friend Ryan Leslie next to Chanel! One of the highlights of the evening was meeting the stunning Arlenis Sosa, one of my favorite models and a fellow Dominicana. We gabbed away in Spanish for quite a while on everything from the fittings she's doing for the shows to the goings-on in our native D.R. As sweet as she is gorgeous, I'm going to love watching her star continue to rise!
It couldn't have been a better kick-off.
Stay focused on The Fashion Bomb for continuing New York Fashion Week coverage this and next week!

The Fashion Bomb's LA Meet & Greet!!!

Good Morning Neighbors!!!
I'm finally functioning after my whirlwind trip to the West Coast. The California weather was absolutely lovely--as were the people! My trip seemed super duper short...I'll have to go out there again and stay a little longer. But enough about me...I'm sure you're wondering how the Meet & Greet went...
It was, in a word, fabulous! Check out a few pictures:
Fashion Bomb readers Vanessa and Tearra put together the mother of all Meet & Greets! They coordinated a performance by R& B artist Barsheem, an artistic exhibition highlighting paintings by Synthia Saint James (think Cosby show), and a three part fashion show featuring LA Designers Tracy Grimes, Pinky Rose, and DeliseAna ...all for little old me!!
Thankfully, lots of LA urban fashionistas made the trek out to Pinky Rose to enjoy the festivities:
Lori of the blog Lipstick, Lace, and Brass Knuckles brought a friend to come and say 'hey'. They looked California cool in their print dresses and brightly colored shoes...
These LA hotties represented the West with a fashion potpourri of mini and maxi dresses worn with metallic flats...
These ladies mixed casual and chic with two friends wearing stilettos, while another opted for a more relaxed look...
With prints on tops and dresses, these divas look ready for a day at the beach...
Exotic prints seemed to be a burgeoning trend, with these friends opting for zebra and leopard print accessories, tights, and shoes...
..and even a few LA guys rolled through, one wearing a Marc Jacobs T-Shirt (featuring Dita Von Teese) with bubble gum pink sneaks, the other sporting stylish red sunglasses and a cute pooch.
Of course I had to jump in a few!
(From Left) Designer Delise' Ana, Fashion Bomb super reader Tearra, moi, and FB Super Reader # 2 Vanessa...
We had to take a picture with the delightful Synthia Saint James...
Snapped a quick pic with R&B artist Barsheem (check him out at http://www.myspace.com/lovemuszerecordingss)
And yours truly with the owner of Pink Rose Boutique, Pinky (note the Synthia Saint James Painting in the background).
It was the bomb!!!
There are so many people I want to thank!
Thanks to Pieces Boutique in Brooklyn for providing my Tibi Dress and earrings, Rosario at Oh My Nappy Hair for the crimped 'do, and Kelly at MAC Cosmetics at the Beverly Center for the makeup.
Thanks to Vanessa and Tearra for coordinating such a great event. I'm sincerely touched! Thanks to Barsheem for your amazing performance, designers Tracy Grimes and DeliseAna for providing such great fashion, Synthia St. James for your artistry, and Hint Beverages for refreshments. Thanks to Pinky Rose for providing a venue!!!
And THANKS to all of you, friends (shout out to Jamie, Kelley, Taylor, Caleb, Catarina, Tina) and readers who came out to make the Fashion Bomb's first non-NYC event such a success!! We're just getting started...
Stay tuned on Facebook or Myspace for pictures, videos, and more about the designers and artists featured at the Meet & Greet.
Until then...
Smootches!
PS Someone asked me if I was on tour (i.e. if I was doing this in other cities). I actually hadn't thought of it, but why not??? I think my next stop must be my hometown of ATL. We'll do it big and get crunk (fashionably of course)!

Fashion Bomb Meet & Greet!!!

Hello Lovelies!!
I am SO tired from yesterday and am running to catch a plane, but wanted to give y'all the scoop on last night's event.
Well, what can I say? It was, in a word: FABULOUS!
Though I arrived fashionably late (and we had to leave a bit early), I had a great time meeting, mingling, shopping, and sipping with my New York Fashion Bomb contingent.
A few pictures of the scene at Te Casan:
I got my buddy and professional photographer Casey Noel (www.cnoelphotoandtravel.com) to handle all the pictures. He caught amazing portraits, much better than my handy dandy Canon!  Take a look at some of the fabulous, chic peeps who rolled through:
Beautiful!
Of course I couldn't help but jump in and snap a few pix myself:
Yours truly with Latisha Daring of Pieces Boutique (www.piecesofbklyn.com), my absolute favorite place to shop in Brooklyn! I got my dress and jewels from Pieces, flats from Te Casan.  You like?
Designer Malcolm Harris (www.malsirrah.com) came thru as well along with his partner Tyson of www.unvogue.com...
Shout out to my cousin Kofi! He's an aspiring model. Check him out at www.myspace.com/ny8store.
And I had to put my friends to work modeling the new Fashion Bomb t-shirts:
They're hot! Pick one up today!!!
With that said, it was a great time. I had a lot of fun.

I want to say THANK YOU to my sponsors: Latisha and Colin from Pieces Boutique (www.piecesofbklyn.com), Bryce at Intencity PR for the Elizabeth Grant (www.elizabethgrant.com) and Lifebooker.com products, Claude from Trace Magazine (www.trace212.com), and Garnell from Halcyon Jets (www.halcyonjets.com)!
Also THANK YOU to Maureen from Step Petal Media for coordinating everything, and thanks to the wonderful people at Te Casan (www.tecasan.com) for hosting me, selling fabulous, amazing shoes, and for all your help last night. Special shouts to Marco and Darien!
Last, but not least: a super huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out--my dear dear amazing splendiforous friends (I can't name you all), readers (same), and my guy friends who might not always be the target readers for the Fashion Bomb, but rolled out nonetheless.
I heart you all, it was amazing time, and it won't be the last!
Time to switch out of my Cinderella costume, and put back on my nerd glasses:)
Ummm...if you want me, you can find me in the A!
Smootches!
Fashion, News, and What Nots

*Shout out to the FAM: Andre, Teri, Kofi, and Ayo.
*All my friends and Fashion Bombers...lurrve y'all.
*Double snaps to G of G's Urban Hair and to Enrique at MAC on Montague for 'beating my face up.' Ha!

Party Recap + Tracy Reese and Baby Phat

"My Umi said shine your light on the world/Shine your light for the world to see/My Abi said shine your light on the world/Shine your light for the world to see..."--Mos Def, 'Umi Says"
Hey Guys!
So my party was such a hit!

Yup, that's me in a Mimi Turner dress from Pieces Boutique, and jewels by Sisu. I'm silly...and was so excited about the night.
Katra was packed to the brim with all my urban fashionistas and fashionistos...

...the DJ was spinning the hot beats, the liquor was flowing, and tons of people came out to support!
My sponsors were there looking fabulous:

Jen from the B-Life Blog looked hot in a ruched fuchsia freekum dress...

Lauren from the blog Stereohyped was party ready in a sequined mini dress, and she brought along her equally beautiful sister Tia, who writes the blog Shake Your Beauty.

Calcie from The JI Group came prepared in a tailored jacket and v-neck shirt...

Chandra (left) from Hourglass Events looked super cute in an off the shoulder top, shorts, and hot purple pumps...
...and Latisha, Colin (far right), and other representatives from Pieces Boutique lit up the red carpet in fierce, fashionable frocks.
Friends and fellow bloggers also rolled through in their flyest:
Naki from the blog Style Chile was sweet enough to show up...

Michelle (far right) from Seasoned to Perfection came with friends to support...
Fashion week buddy Shameek (right) made an appearance...
and lots...
and lots...
of readers...
friends...
fans...
and the like...

...were bomb enough to show up and have a great time!
Check out more pictures and the slideshow here.
It was a great, memorable night, and I want to thank everyone soooooo much for coming! I was super busy, so I apologize if I couldn't stop and spend time with everyone. But now that you know who I am, please feel free to come and say 'hey' if you see me around the way.
The party was such a success that I might make this a bi-annual thing (every fashion week)....
More on that later!
Smootches!
PS Almost forgot: Tracy Reese and Baby Phat were so much fun!
The ethnic models were representing like no other in various shades and builds...

Tracy Reese Spring 2008

Baby Phat Spring 2008
...it was beautfiul!
Baby Phat was chock full of celebs:
Star Jones was sitting directly across from me, taking notes for some reason...
Of course Russelll Simmons was in the house...
And gourgeous Bahamian model Shakara came with her boo.
I had a chance to snap pix with a few fashion stars:

Me with Nole Marin, a prominent fashion editor and stylist... And yup, that's me with Nick Cannon and Selita Ebanks. Ms. Jay is in the background. Hilarious! I look like a greaseball next to Selita, but the pic is funny:)
Also, if you're interested, I taped the final walk..but like an idiot, I didn't realize that even though the video looked fine to me, it shows up sideways. So just tilt your head until I can figure out how to make it right side up...

Sorry guys! I tried to give you the feeling of it all... Fashion week has been amazing so far. Just a few more shows this week until it's all over. So much fun!
PSS Special thanks to Hourglass Events, The B-Life Blog, Stereohyped, Pieces Boutique, and the JI Group for helping me throw my bash! Many thanks to Rum Cake Fairy for providing delicious cakes and Trace Magazine and Boutique Finesse for donating items for our goodie bags. Shout out to expert photographer Casey Noel for the amazing red carpet shots. And lastly, much love to my girls Margaret, Stephanie, and Kim. You're the bomb!
