Red Carpet Trend: Hot Metallics

Hey hey!
So a lot of recent events caused red carpets to roll, and it seems the urban gliterrati decided to bring back the metallic trend for fall. Let's take a look...
Sweet singer Tweet makes a statement...
... in a thigh length shimmery sequined frock paired with boots.
And actress Denise Boutte...

...recently channeled Tina Turner in a hot gold sequined cocktail.
Gorgeous acress Kerry Washinton opted for silver...
... but went for a more demure v-neck wrap dress and matching metallic sandals.
While Eva the Diva...

..stunted in an almost plastic looking strapless with sky high shoes.
Songstress Chrisette Michelle...
...went all brassy in a cute yet conservative dress.
And uber designer Tracy Reese...

...offered just a punch of silver in her jacket and t-strapped shoes.
Want the look? I of course have a few suggestions.
For full on metal, go with a dress....
Left to Right: Strapless Metallic Dress, $148, www.bananarepublic.com; Aqua Paneled Sequin Tunic, $194, www.bloomingdales.com; Nicole Miller Sequined Dress, $294, www.neimanmarcus.com; Tadashi Cold Shoulder Dress, $350, www.bloomingdales.com.
Too much metallic fever? Go a little softer with a jacket....
Left to Right: Alvin Valley Metallic Cropped Jacket, $269, www.neimanmarcus.com; Brocade Cropped Jacket, $148, www.ardenb.com; Kensie Gold Foil Metallic Jacket, $88, www.nordstrom.com.

TFB Grammy Review

"I can see yo beauty on a big screen/I can see me freakin' you wit' whip cream/ I can see you on stage at the awards, wit' a dress better then Jennifer's and doin' big things/ Kick it wit' me I can mold yo life/ you lookin' good girl sho' you right/ Dre told me you tha prototype/ I can make you a celebrity overnight..."--Twista, 'Overnight Celebrity'

Hey Y'all!
The Grammy's were last night...

...and with my keen eye for fashion, I felt it only right to give my two cents on the styles on the stage and red carpet.
Everyone generally looked glamorous in their sequins, chiffon, and silk.
But there were a few hits...and there were of course a few misses.
Behold, the Fashion Bomb's Grammy Awards Review.
Hits:
Christina Aguilera...

...looked smashing. I love the simplicity and chicness of her dress. The little splash of blue trimming on her sweetheart neckline brings out her eyes and complements her platinum hair. I'm not sure if it was the dress itself or if I'm recovering from debacles like this...

...but Xtina has certainly stepped her game up.
Next Up on the hits list:

The Pussycat Dolls! Ok, ok, something about them wreaks of eau de skank, but I can't deny how beautiful the dress colors look together...or how riveting the pallette looks against their collectively tanned skins. It's a great color scheme...kudos all around!
Vanessa Minnillo:

Batted 1,000 in her sequined dress. Metallic is the new black. Don't believe me?
Take a look at Fergie:

I normally hate on Fergie's choices, but this dress is working for her. It showcases that she is indeed "up in the gym, just workin on [her] fitness." Good look.
I'm not sure why Scarlett J was there...

but her dress did a great job of accentuating her curves.
And lastly, India Arie...

Looked amazing! She's sort've a random choice, I know, but I'm feelin her hair, the color of her dress, and the gold accents. She truly represented for the brown skinned ladies...

And now for the 'misses' of the night...feel free to weigh in...

Ok. Mandy Moore should be ashamed for wearing this frumpy frock. Totally unglamorous...she even looks like she hates it!
Nelly Furtado...

...is a pretty girl, but I don't think this get-up does her any justice! From the frazzled hair to the frayed hem, nothing is working for me here.
Rihanna's dress...

looks like it's too big for her.

The back details are sick, but I've seen better on her.
Now Jennifer Hudson.

I am the biggest fan of curvy girls, and totally support flattering wardrobe choices. With that said, this red Roberto Cavalli number does nothing to accentuate the positive and hide the negative. It's in violation of Curvy Girl Wardrobe Rule # 1: Wear dark colors that slim and hide problem areas. This would've looked better in black (or navy as she wore for the Golden Globes). Plus, it didn't help that she was noticeably uncomfortable in it...she was pulling it up in every shot!
It's ok, though. You'll get 'em next time, Jen.
Lastly, Brooke Hogan designed her dress...

and it shows! Well, the design isn't bad, but the fabric is. Brooke might not have known, but she's in violation of Curvy Girl Wardrobe Rule #2: don't wear shiny fabrics! Shiny fabrics, like bright colors, accentuate what you'd like to hide. She went with satin...you see what happened. Again, better luck next time.
That's about it! Now for every one else...
I thought Mary J. looked alright on the red carpet

But looked even better on stage in her red catsuit.

She also seemed more at ease in the catsuit vs. the gown.
Ciara...

looked cute in this leggy creation.
But Beyonce...

Was kind of womp womp for me. Maybe I'm suffering from Beyonce overload?
What do you think?
Smootches!
