Today's Black History shout out goes to wedding dress designer Cassandra Bromfield.
Bromfield's love of making Barbie doll clothes as a child evolved into a genuine skill in creating African-American inspired wedding gowns. In a 1999 Essence article, Bromfield stated, "I help brides have a cultural experience that evokes emotion".
Bromfield says on her website, "Just as soul food is a mixture of things that our people considered valuable, these designs are a assortment of fabrics, textures, and patterns with hand painting, hand beading, glass, antique beads, and pieces of lace".
Bromfield lives in Brooklyn, NY (big up Brooklyn!) and owns a design studio in midtown Manhattan. Find out more information on her website www.cassandrabromfield.com.
