Spring Trendwatch, pt. 1

"My Umi said shine your light on the world/Shine your light for the world to see/My Abi said shine your light on the world/Shine your light for the world to see..."--Mos Def, 'Umi Says'

Hey Guys,
So the snow is slowly melting and we're starting to see our first few glimpses of sunlight. Sure, it's not 60 degrees, but it's definitely time to start thinking about building your spring wardrobe...and of course the Fashion Bomb is here to help!
Today and tomorrow, I'm going to cover spring trends that I love, celebs who rock them, and my recommendations for how you can incorporate these trends into your style system. Enjoy!
First trend: Shiny Metallic and Patent Leather pieces.
Let's see how the celebs get down:

Ciara works her wide metallic belt with shorts and wedges...

Kelly R wows 'em with her eye popping metallic jacket, silver top, and pristine patent leather bag...

And Kelis shows us who's bossiest in her sequined silver dress.
Jada's bag is hot...

...even though her outfit is not.
And Star's sequined top would totally be cute...

...on someone with a few less surgeries.

Still, have no fear....anyone can make this look work.
Try these Fashion Bomb certified pieces:

PS In NYC? Love Clothes? My friends at Hourglass Entertainment, the B Life, and Boutique Finesse are having a clothing exchange this Saturday, the 24th, from 2-4:30pm at New Song Community Church (2230 Frederick Douglass Blvd between 120th and 121st streets).

I'm going home to the A this weekend, but y'all should check it out if you're around!

Thanks for your tips! One question, can anyone wear obi belts? I love the look but I'm only 5ft3 and short waisted so I'm afraid it would take up my whole waist.

Those Tory Burch flats drive me nuts. I am waiting for the sale, though, because I won't pay nearly $200 for shoes that could be made in Brazil. Brazil is an average shoe place. Best shoes are made in Italy, followed by Spain, Brazil and China, IMO.
