Mail Bombs Lite: Rocsi's 106 & Park Heels, Rihanna's Gucci Dress, and Keri's Military Coat!

Thanksgiving is over, but Mail Bombs are still poppin!
I know most of y'all are already AT the mall, so I'll keep this short and sweet!
First Mhel was wondering about Rocsi's hot heels:
She says, "Can you tell me who they are by and where I can buy them??"
Rocsi is wearing these Balenciaga Fall 2008 d’Orsay stilettos:
Seems this collection was quite popular amongst Fashion Bomb fashionistas, as Ciara was identified wearing their Escarpin Booties in this Mail Bombs Post. Find your pair at www.balenciaga.com.
Next Megan says, "I wanted to know if you could find the designer of this dress??"
Of course at her Unicef Gucci event, Ri Ri is wearing Gucci...
The Spring 2009 gown was first modeled by Chanel Iman no less! Who rocked it better?
Alexis B from Washington D.C. says, "I wanted to know where I could find a coat like the one Keri Hilson wore to the Dirty Awards..."
"... It looks great and perfect for the brisk DC weather!"
It does! Reader Myranda wrote in and informed me that Keri is in fact wearing this Soldier Girl Coat in Grey:
...get it for only $83 at Fashion Bomb sponsor www.lulus.com!
Next, in a Male Mail Bomb, Hajah says, "I was wondering if you could PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me. Lance Gross did a photoshoot with Derek Blanks and he has on a brown leather jacket..."
"...He looks great and I want to send this jacket to my brother for Christmas who is actually in the army in Iraq. Please help!"
Lance's stylist Staci wrote in saying, "His Jacket is Dolce & Gabanna. Lance told me several people have been in search for it. Lance had me do a search on the D&G website and that particular jacket is no longer available!" Lance is looking out!!! Anyway, try these jackets for a similar look:

Photobucket
1. 7 For All Mankind Men's Leather Bomber Jacket, $675. 2. Daniele Alessandrini Dark Brown Leather Jacket, $945. 3. Guess Payant Leather Jacket, $298. 4. Collection Privee Leather Outerwear, $944. 5. Benjamin Bixby Leather Varsity Jacket, $959.
Lastly, in an addendum to this Look for Less post, we found that Regina Hall is wearing these Sam Edelman $135 Whitely Ankle Boots in Pewter...
Photobucket

...get 'em at www.endless.com.
That does it!
Hope you've all recovered from your turkey coma and are hitting the malls in style!
I've got a bit of work today, so let me get down to business.
Bisous!

Friday Video Fun

Do y'all have personal anthems? Q-Tip's "Vivrant Thing" has been one of mine for years.

The lyrics and video are hot, but the beat is just bananas. (Confession: I sometimes bump this when I'm trying on clothes at home or getting ready to go out. I think everyone has at least one of those jams!).
FYI: Q-Tip 's new album, The Renaissance, is a banger.
Hope you all had a fabulous, fashionable Thankgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I saw this image online...it's slightly offensive, yet I can't help myself:
Enjoy the turkey, corn bread, mashed potatoes, lasagna, peas & rice, ham....oh my mouth is watering!
I'm grabbing dinner with a few expat friends.
The Fashion Bomb will be back in lite form on Friday, so you can all make time for Black Friday Shopping.
Bisous!

Jourdan Dunn: Model of the Year

Jourdan Dunn took home the Model of the Year award last night at the British Fashion Council's Annual Ceremony:
At just 18, the young Brit has scored the cover of Italian Vogue, several print campaigns, and made news as the first black model to stomp for Prada since Naomi Campbell 15 years earlier! Snaps for bringing it home! Let's hope she continues skyward, and doesn't end up like her.
Bisous!
Psst In other model news, NY Mags whispers that lithe mannequin Sessilee Lopez is boo'ed up with style czar Kanye West! Kanye does have good taste...

Random: We love Rihanna's style, but do we love her music?

Last night, as a friend was marveling at the many instances of Rihanna on the Fashion Bomb, I thought to myself: Rih-Rih is a certified fashionista, which merits her frequent glances on TFB:
But style aside, do we love her music?
Umbrella was a hot hit, but do we bump her CD? I can't think of one song of hers I'd need in heavy rotation.
Sasha Fierce on the other hand...
...the hits go back for years:

Adriana's Life: TJ Maxx Boston Trip

It's not every day you get to go behind the scenes of one of your favorite stores, and I got to do it for TWO days last week in Boston when I traveled to find out all about......T.J. Maxx!

The noted treasure trove for stylistas gathered members of the fashion blogosphere to chat about the awesome new things they're doing and dispel some of the myths about off-price retailing. Many shoppers still assume that Maxx only sells irregular/damaged goods when, actually, that's less than 5% of their stock. A lot of their merchandise is even in department stores at the same time it's at T.J.'s, like the above Betsey Johnson bag (which goes for $20 less at Maxx!). I also got to preview some of what's on tap for spring shoe-wise...and check out some of their current fall accessories! Now, while they can't advertise which brands they carry, I can give you the scoop that LaRok, Catherine Malandrino, and Alvin Valley were among the many hot labels on the racks. In addition, Maxx's new boutique within-the-store, The Runway, carries high-end labels such as Alberta Ferretti, Moschino, and Allesandro Dell'Acqua. Now for the best part...

T.J. MAXX/FASHION BOMB SPLURGE OR STEAL CONTEST!

T.J. Maxx and The Fashion Bomb are offering $25 gift cards to each of the first two readers who can correctly guess which outfit in each picture is the department store Splurge and which is the T.J. Maxx Steal! Let's get to it:
Is the Steal or Splurge outfit option a or b?! (click on the photos for close-ups)
Steal or Splurge #1Steal or Splurge #2Steal or Splurge #3E-mail thefashionbombintern@gmail.com with your guesses--winners will be announced on Monday, December 1!

Hot or Hmm: American Music Awards

Fashion Bomb celebs were out and about this weekend, peppering the red carpet of the American Music Awards in Los Angeles:
Pretty Brit Leona Lewis stunted in a champagne colored cocktail that literally sparkled under the lights:
...she rarely does wrong, and this night she was definitely Hot!
Fashionista Rihanna also represented in a new edgy haircut, offset by a frothy frock...
...at first glance she looks hot, but something about the asymmetric hem in the front makes me go Hmm...
Alicia Keys looks positively lovely in a one shouldered navy gown...
...I must say, I love the color, and the silver sequins and accessories are hot!
Toccara opted for a Betty Grable-esque hairstyle and polka dot dress...
...patterns are quite a bold choice for a red carpet event. Hmm, perhaps this would've been better suited for another occasion...
The Queen went for liquid metallic flair...
...the color is great, but the material...hmm...
And cutie Jordin Sparks was scintillating in yellow...
...the dress is cute enough. The red hair extensions make me go Hmm.
The guys represented as well, with Ne-Yo rocking a Hot! brown suit...
The Dream representing for the A and showing fellas how to dress up a pair of jeans...
Fashion Bomb friend Kanye West looking a bit jet lagged and confused with a fur tail accessory and exotic print hat...
And cutie Chris Brown taking home the men's style award in a hot leather jacket and bowtie:

What do you think?

Real Style: Paris Bercy

Hey!
So as you know, last week I went to the Kanye West/Roots concert at Paris' Bercy stadium:
I hoped the city's finest would come out for the event, so I hung around outside the venue beforehand to see if I could find some Real Style.
These ladies were cool enough to pose:
They were concert ready in comfy sneakers, skinny jeans, and sweaters. I also didn't mind the New York Yankees hat mixed in with the updated berets.
These young men struck me with their b-boy stance...
The young man on the left has a bold hairstyle, and homie on the right keeps it cool with a pair of headphones.
And I loved diva on the right's colorful earrings...
....and appreciated her friend's laid back Chucks Taylors!
I also went backstage and captured a bit of Real Style:

Bisous!

MAC + Hello Kitty

WWD reports that MAC Cosmetics and Hello Kitty are collaborating on a collection of makeup and more, set to hit stores in February 2009:
In addition to typical lipstick and lipglass, the collection also includes cute accessories like makeup bags, mirrors, brushes, and vanity kits. Cute!
I tend not to stray too far away from Amber Lights Eyeshadow and Oh Baby lipglass, but this one might be worth a look...

Friday Video Fun

Wow, I really can't party like I used to! I'm settling in to chill hardcore for the rest of the weekend--which made me think about this throw back viddy:

A few questions/observations:
1. Who knew Tiny was so hood?
2. Why in the world was the whole West Coast gangster look ever fashionable for women?
3. Why in the world did I rock the West Coast gangster look? Yep, I used to sag my jeans and button up the flannel shirt! Lol. Glad that was a passing phase...
Have great weekends!

Mail Bombs: Tracee Ellis Ross, Malinda Williams' Hot Heels, and Rihanna's Ruffled Look!

Wow, last night was so much fun!
Even though I'm a bit hungover, Mail Bombs must go on!
Allons-y!
Dawn says, "I'm looking for a pair of boots like the ones Tracee Ellis Ross has on..."
"... I have to have them what ever the cost! Can you find them for me?"
Those are indeed some cute booties! Though it's likely Tracee is rocking Prada, it seems you can get a similar look with either pair of these affordable Jeffrey Campbell joints:
1. Jeffrey Campbell Lace Up Bootie in Black, $124. 2. Jeffrey Campbell Di High Heel Cuff Bootie, $185.
Reader Edonna loved Tracee's seventies inspired specs:
Adriana found she's wearing these $345 Balenciaga Round Lens Degrade Sunglasses:
Don't have $345? Try these:
1. Spitfire Candybar Sunglasses, $35. 2. A.J. Morgan Metradon Sunglasses, $28. 3. Palm Springs Sunglasses, $13.
Next, Keirsten says, "Where did my girl get these shoes?!?!?!"
Adriana found Malinda is wearing these Dolce Vita Viola Stilettos:
Get the hotness for $264 at www.shopdolcevita.com! I might invest!
Next Nesi wanted to find a skirt similar to Rihanna's layered look:
I found these options for a flirty essence:
1. French Connection Women's Vicky Viscose Mini Skirt, $39. 2. Kimchi Blue Outskirts Mini, $20.
And lastly, Nhezi wanted to know where the princess got her cute leggings:
We did our research and found she's wearing these $62 Factory Girl Tights:
Good luck!
That does it for today, unfortunately...more when I wake back up:)
Bisous!

Claire's Life: Kanye West & The Roots

Hey!
So last night's concert was *crazy*!
I captured some Real Style--here's a taste:
And I was also able to catch up with my performers!
Black Thought of the Roots was cool enough to say 'wassup'...
As was ?uest love:
I'm loving that t-shirt!
And the man of the hour, Kanye West showed some love:
Yeah, it's good to know your homies stateside are still down for you abroad!
I took lots of video, stay tuned to the Fashion Bomb Facebook Page to give you a bit of backstage access!
Bisous!
*Shout to my homie Miles!

This Week in Chic

The flyest outfits for this week in chic:

Sonia Rykiel Exhibit in Paris

Hey boos!
Today I stopped into a cool exhibit at the Museum of Fashion on French Designer Sonia Rykiel:
Known as the 'Queen of Knits', Rykiel is best known for her sweaters, and was the first designer to put seams on the outside of a garment and weave pictures into her designs. The exhibit in Paris celebrates her 40 years in the business, and shows a progression of her apparel--from fun sweaters in bright colors, decorated with rosettes, words, and stripes to more serious dresses and gowns:
I could only take a few pix before the guards told me I had to stop--in case you can't make it here, a few more shots:
I'm off to a Kanye West/Roots concert tonight and I'm going to snap some serious Real Style (I'm on a mission!!). Stay tuned for that on Monday--and for Mail Bombs tomorrow:)

Beauty Bomb: Skin Tips for Winter

It's Adri, back on the scene after a quickie fashion jaunt to Boston (more deets on that soon!) but first things first...did NYC just get Arctic overnight?! Brr! My skin is not feeling this at all, so it must be time to enact my winter regime. Here are a few of my favorite tips for keeping your skin healthy and looking fabulous during winter!

1. Limit the hot water on your skin:
I know it's hard--what's better than a steaming hot shower on a cold day? But too much hot water dries the skin out, so keep the showers to just warm and save the high heat for your swagger ;-)
2. Step Up the Body Moisturizer:
If you use a light moisturizer in summer, transition to something thicker with an enriching ingredient, like Vitamin E. I double-swear by Creamy Petroleum Jelly with Vitamin E)--it's so rich that sometimes I can skip a day (but in winter I hardly take chances!).
3. Make your makeup work double duty!
Use foundations, lip tints, and other products that have side benefits like moisturizers and sunscreens. Ever since I interviewed celeb makeup artist Jackie Gomez, I've been addicted to Korres's Lip Butter, which has great natural hues and built-in moisturizing ("Quince" is my go-to).
4. Sunscreen!
80% of the sun's rays STILL get through clouds, snow, etc., and one of the big myths about having melanin is that it prevents skin cancer when in fact it only just lowers your chances--brown and black folk are still susceptible. Light-weight sunscreens are the best--my fave is Bliss's Oil-Free Sunban Lotion with SPF 30.
5. And don't forget to hydrate from the inside-out with as much water as possible:
...especially during the winter months when cold can dry you out just as easily as heat in summer (not to mention the healthy glow and blemish banishing it gives your skin).
~Adri

Video Fun: Santogold

Checking out new blog Beautiful Brown Ones, I stumbled upon this video:

I love its sheer simplicity and Santogold's 80's steeze, but my favorite part might have to be her back up dancers!

Hot! or Hmm...: Beyonce, Fabolous, and Dawn in NYC

The stars made their way to different soirees in NYC last night, sticking to a fashionable theme of all black. Black on black is always chic, but as we've seen, sometimes it's Hot! and other times Hmm...
Beyoncé hosted Gotham Magazine's Annual Gala sporting this long-sleeved, turtle-neck black column dress...
I love maxi dresses for the summer months where you can show a bit of skin with a strapless style. For the fall, I think this frock gets a Hmm...
Dawn from Danity Kane made an appearance...
Playing with textures like sequins and silk is always hot!, and this cute cocktail is age appropriate, funky and fun.
Malinda Williams also showed up with D-Nice...
The grey and black jacket is Hot! and I'm loving her pop of purple clutch...
The guys also showed out in all black, with Fabolous as THE style standout at his own birthday party(as it should be!)...

R&B artist Ne-Yo will perform live during the ceremony before watching Rihanna and Frida flip the switch to illuminate the Snowflake.

DVF to Design for Obama?

NY Mag's the Cut reported today that Diane Von Furstenberg aspires to dress our fresh first lady:
They say, "Last night at the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund award dinner Diane Von Furstenberg told [New York] she has submitted sketches for Michelle Obama's inaugural ball gown. "Well, they asked me to. Of course, everybody has," she said. "I'm so proud to be an American. Otherwise, right now we would all be so depressed."
Uh, did I mention how much I adore Diane von Furstenberg?
A few of her 'first lady' worthy 'fits from her Fall 2008 collection:

Tuesday Video: Real Housewives of Atlanta

Can I go ahead and admit how much I love the Real Housewives of Atlanta?
They're delusional, far from classy, and over the top: in other words great TV. Click below for some drama from their reunion episode:

I so wish Bravo had full episodes I could access online!!! I even looked on Itunes--no love. I'm about to write a letter....
And I'm totally on team Nene!

Sasha Fierce stashed away her Louboutins and Pierre Hardy's for her World Music Awards performance, opting instead for a pair of gold sandals by new brand Spring Shoes:

Gold not your thing? The hot heels also come in black!

Hey, they're cute and can hold up under a performance of Single Ladies?!?

*In other news USA Today conducted a short poll, asking readers what they think of Beyonce's new uni-glove steeze. They say, "More than 700 USA TODAY readers weighed in, with most giving the look a thumbs down: 4% said "It looks like a fun new fashion trend, sign me up," while 96% said "Leave the glove-wearing to Michael Jackson."LOL! Read the rest of the article here.

American Vogue: Change We Can Believe In!

Fashionista.com has scans of a recent spread in American Vogue profiling some of fashion's brightest stars:
That's right ladies and gents: not one, or two, but THREE non-caucasian models. On top of featuring confirmed star Arlenis Pena, they also give shine to Nigerian model Oluchi Orlandi and Indian Beauty Lakshmi Menon.
I must admit, my heart is warming slowly towards Vogue; in July 2008, they asked if Fashion was Racist, and after a resounding chorus answered, "YES" they started to make real strides to be more inclusive.
I might think about reinstating my subscription, but the real question is: Does this change your opinion of Vogue?

Get her Look: Zoe Kravitz

Budding fashionista Zoe Kravitz hit up the Keep a Child Alive Black Ball in NYC recently in a Rare Vintage by Juliana Cairone black hand beaded mini dress:

Hot or Hmm..: Victoria's Secret Runway Show

Morning, FB'ers!

The fashionable gathered over the weekend on the pink carpet in Miami Beach for Victoria's Secret big-to-do. I'm a little Hmm on the whole idea of a VS fashion show but I know a few dudes who would probably try to gag me if I voiced that too strongly!
Speaking of dudes, Usher and Terrence Howard brought it with some dapper men's style:Terrence coolly channels a Miami vibe (Hot!) with his light jacket, Panama hat, and dress slacks. Though I normally like Usher in a suit, this one looks a little too buttoned-up for the tropical heat...Hmm...
Gabrielle Union rarely missteps fashion-wise and looks good here...
...but I wish she'd thrown in some color--like Usher, dark colors are a little too somber for Miami and the pink carpet...(Hot shoes though)...
Kourtney and Kim Kardashian's bright tunics are great examples of how to sport your basic evening black and still keep the Miami-sexy...
Kinda hot!
Shakara...
...where have you been?!
Cassie's another stylista who normally does no wrong...
...even though I'm over the bandage dress trend, she looks Hot in this champagne-hued number!
Finally, Lenny K. and Diddy kept it laid-back in different ways:
I'm confused by Diddy's dress shoes paired with a long-sleeved white tee, and Lenny's motorcycle-inspired outfit is hot, but feels a little too out of place with the setting. Hmm...
What did y'all think?
Adri

Real Male Style

Happy Monday!
Today I decided to dig into the Fashion Bomb archives for Real Style I popped while still in NYC! I saw this young man at a party...
...and remember admiring his edgy essence; his haircut is brave, and he has no problem mixing a trendy fringed scarf with his own stylish red pants and red shoes.
Guys, what do you think?

Barbie Goes Fashion for her 50th Anniversary

I don't know about y'all, but when I was a young buck, I was obsessed with Barbie. The house, bubble bath, corvette, I wanted (and still have) everything!!!
So when I read in WWD that Barbie would be getting a fashion makeover for her 50th anniversary, I had to report!
They say, “Mattel is lining up new partnerships with Bloomingdale’s, Vera Wang, Jeremy Scott, IMG and the Council of Fashion Designers of America. The company plans a runway show in February, as part of fashion week in New York, with 50 as-yet-undisclosed designers who will produce life-size outfits inspired by Barbie [including] a life-size wedding gown designed by Vera Wang, which includes a Barbie wearing a miniature version of the dress." How cute is that?? I might have to make a return trip to NYC to see it!
Ah, I remember the days of putting grease in my Barbie's hair. That didn't really work on the blondes, but no matter.
What are some of your Barbie memories??

Music Bomb: Kanye West's "Heartless" Video

I know "Heartless" has been out for a while now but every time I watch this video, I get taken in by the fashion deets in the animation. The fringe and red soles on the fuschia Louboutins, the graphic designs on Yeezy's sweater, and the exact replica of his living room. Bananas.

Can't wait for the album--11/24!!

Mail Bombs: Halle Berry's Black Bag, Taraji's Red Carpet Look, and Spectator Inspired Flats!

Happy Friday!
We've finally recovered from the madness of H&M! Besides, a few pushes would never keep us from Mail Bombs:
...obvs!
First reader Merethea asks, "What is the brand name of Halle Berry's handbag??"
According to our friends over at What's Haute, Ms. Berry is rocking this Cartier Marcello Bag:
It comes in varying sizes, averaging $1000 for the small version to $1600 for the large. Find yours at www.cartier.com.
Next Alexandrea saw this picture over at the YBF...
...and says, "Can you help me recreate this look the fabulous Meagan Good is rocking??"
Get her look with these:
1. Express Leather Bomber Jacket, $248. 2. Express Shiny Knit Leggings, $39.50. 3. Guess by Marciano Debbilee Sandals, $81.
Lucky you, Express.com is having a buy 1, get 1 half off sale! Get on it!
Samona says, "Where can I get Taraji's dress..."
"...or a really good knock off?"
We couldn't find the exact designer, so you'll have to settle with this $308 Tadashi Tie Front Jersey Dress:
...it's green, ties in front, and is saucy without the shine. Good luck!
Next Gerri says, "I really love Alicia's shoes! I especially love the pink colors!"
"Could you please let me know if there are more affordable shoes similar to these?"
The closest thing I could find to Alicia's shoes were these Davis By Ruthie Davis Women's Pixel Peep Toe Booties:
At $550 they're not quite affordable, though knowing Alicia's steeze, they're probably less than the originals.
Now we have a few wardrobe queries!
Jaime says, "I was hoping you guys could help me. I refuse to purchase another pair of Uggs..YES they are comfy and warm BUT they are sooooooooo 'played'..."
"Was wondering if my fashion guides (that would be you!!!) could help me in making a fabulous NEW and comfy move into a new pair of boots."

Comme des Garçons for H&M: New York

"This is crazier than Cavalli!"
And that overheard quote, Fashion Bombers, sums up the excitement and madness of the Comme des Garçons for H&M launch at their 5th Avenue flagship in NYC! I got there at 9 on the dizz-ot and already the line was well around the corner:
There were so many people that the store decided to open an hour early and then...pandemonium!It was IN-SANE. The much-hyped $349 dress was gone before I could even spot it; shoppers were tripping over each other, grabbing anything they could off the racks, and pushing any and everyone aside! People were even trying to rip the clothes off the mannequins!
This one was such a target that it had to be assigned a bodyguard. The excitement was a lot of fun but, overall, I felt a little let down by the clothes. It seemed like the accessories (scarves, hats, sneakers) were the more fun items. Most people, however, thought otherwise--like this young lady, who was so overwhelmed she could only feebly nod when I asked to take her picture! There was, of course, some fierce Real Style on the scene. I caught a few stylistas (including some men's style) who were also die-hard CDG fans:
Even Fashion Bomb friend and celebrity stylist Alexander Allen was in the building:
Yours truly then got in line with everyone else (I did find some cool jodhpur-like pants) and called it a morning:All in all: bananas but definitely fun!
Special thanks to Real Stylers Folami, Kalifa, Simone, and Jamillah!

Comme des Garçons for H&M: Paris

Wow guys,
This morning was a hot mess!! I woke up early enough to make my way to the H&M at St. Lazare (at the recommendation of a few friends). I rushed and got there by 9:30 only to find it wasn't having Comme des Garçons festivities!!! Thinking fast, I ran to the H&M on Rue de Rivoli and got there by 9:50. Didn't have a ton of time, but had to get video:

Trust me, it was hard to find anyone who spoke English, but I did my best!!
Enjoy!!!
Stay tuned for Adriana's NYC recap!

NYScene: DL 1961 Jeans Preview, TresEmmé at Robert Verdi's

Hey guys,
So, the day after Election Day dawned bright and beautiful. Our new Prez-elect wasted no time getting to work, and neither did the Fashion Bomb! It was a busy day for NYC events.
First stop was the showroom for a new jean brand called DL 1961, which are my latest obsession:
Containing a material called XFIT Lycra, these jeans have 360 degree movement (which means they maintain their shape and don't sag).
The denim was super-soft, like a second-skin, and there was no awkward adjusting of hips and legs ( if you're a curvy girl you know exactly what I mean!!!). I covet!
After DL 1961, I headed over to Robert Verdi's Lounge:Where he hosted TresEmmé's launch of its new StyleSeeker site. I got the chance to do a few things, including get my 'do freshened up:And chat with the fabulous Monsieur Verdi himself (I'm grinning super-hard here!). He sends bisous to Claire:So it was a great fashion day: discovering a dope new brand, a little pampering, and Robert Verdi. What else could a girl want...oh--yes! For you to check out StyleSeeker! It's a great new community site centered on all things style: hair, fashion, entertainment, and events, included. Stop by and tell 'em the FB sent ya!

Urban Men's Fashion Flash

The Fashion Bomb doesn't do nearly enough men's style, but it's almost impossible to overlook a recent trend amongst the urban set:
...a bow tied and bespectacled appearance we'll call Pee Wee Herman meets Malcolm X.
Of course it started with our 808's and Heartbreak Style Czar K. West:
Then crept into Common's closet...
And now it seems more and more MC's are trading in their dark shades for the wide rimmed or tortoise shell variety:
As they become older and more accomplished, it seems they're fine with expressing who they truly are:
...men with tons of intelligence who've used a combo of bragadoccio and brains to broker business deals worth millions.
Ladies you gotta admit: isn't there something intriguing about intellect?
Bisous!

Get the Look: Men's Fashion Flash

Want to make stuntin' a habit?
Get the look with these:
1. Benjamin Bixby Shawl Collar Cardigan, $595. 2. Liz Claiborne Luxe Contrast Blocked Cardigan, $100. 3. Jos. A. Bank Horizontal Stripe Bow Tie, $49.50. 4. Ray Ban Wayfarer II Sunglasses, $139.

Throwback: Guess Jeans

There were plenty of '80s-'90s designer jean "status" labels: Sergio Valente, Girbaud, Jordache. But none gave you more instant cache than that little triangle on your back pocket......Guess Jeans! With their second-skin fit, cool washes, and ads featuring style icons like Naomi Campbell, Anna Nicole Smith, Claudia Schiffer, and Drew Barrymore, the Guess formula of sexy+chic+celebrity=trend explosion broke ground for much of the denim craze we see today. And...

(I told y'all we were going back today!)
There was probably no better ad for Guess jeans than Janet's "Pleasure Principle" video (you know you tried to do this dance--Guess jeans or not--at least once!).And could you Guess that:
-Guess Jeans ran about $60 a pair--about $100-$150 in today's money?
-Guess was created as "American West meets European Sensibility?"
-Everyone from Miss Jackson to Grandmaster Flash to Wu-Tang have paid tribute to Guess in some way?
-The company currently focuses more on accessories and has launched independent Guess accessory stores ?
Tell us your Guess memories ;-)

Hot! or Hmm...:World Music Awards

Hey!
So a handful of celebs were close by in Monte Carlo, Monaco for the World Music Awards! As always, their outfit choices begged for a few Fashion Bomb Hot or Hmm reflections...
I must admit, like milk, marriage has done Mimi's body lots of good! But when will we see her in something that's not super skin tight?? This lady in red gets a Hmm...
The ever beautiful and evolving Alicia Keys performed in a ruffled satin gown with amazing platform stilettos. Ladies, this is how you do black! Definitely hot!
British songstress Estelle took to the stage, also wearing a ruffled number. A little black dress is always chic, but something about the proportions, footless tights and so so shoes make me go Hmm...
And what awards show would be complete without the Knowles sisters???
Solange performed in a great black and white combo topped off by Hot! neon shoes. I'm taking notes!
And of course Sasha fierce performed for all the single ladies, working a military inspired jacket and Hot! gold sandals. Snaps to Beyonce for her new image, but does anyone else think she's channeling 'Michael Jackson' with the one glove and tassle/braid trimmed jacket?
I'm just sayin...
What do you think?
Bisous!

Real Style: Rue de Rivoli

The other day I was walking along Rue de Rivoli...
A street most known for being home to the world famous Louvre museum:
What most people don't know is that if you walk east, Rue De Rivoli becomes a shopping strip...
...chock full of everything from French chain stores like Etam, Celio and Naf Naf to American staples like GAP and Foot Locker.
While on my museum/shopping stroll I caught sight of this young lady:
...who was representing in true Parisian fashion in dark skinny jeans and brown riding boots. While her overall look is simple, she made it chic by throwing a bit of fur into the mix with her vest.
What do you think?

NYScene: Reebok Spring Preview

Hey, guys--Adriana here with another report from the New York fashion scene. Y'all know I'm a freestyle fanatic, so I was hyped to check out Reebok's Spring '09 collection preview last week. Look what they did just for me!OK, mayyybe not. But a girl can wish...Here are some of the highlights from the line! The top two Freestyles are called "Fashionista" and "Punk" (I kept envisioning Rihanna in the Punks). My faves are the pop art-like gray ones and those burgundy satin ballet flats, which look even more adorable in person. Thoughts?
P.S. For all of us Reebok Basquiat edition fans, I got the scoop that there are definitely some more styles in the pipeline--stay tuned!
Look for the Reebok Spring '09 collection in stores early next year!
Adri
Special thanks to Carmen and Olivia. :-)

Hot! Or Hmm..:Knowles Sisters at the MTV Europe Music Awards

The Knowles sisters recently hit up the MTV Europe Music Awards in Liverpool, continuing their world promotional tour, and providing endless fodder for the Fashion Bomb's Hot or Hmm series...
...I must say, though this outfit is a bit tame for Solange, I love the black sequins, stripes and the pop of her yellow bracelet. And Beyonce's one handed glove is definitely hot!
Sasha took to the stage to perform "If I Were a Boy"...
Hmmm...but maybe it's hot that homegirl is stepping out the box?
What do you think?
Check out Beyonce's performance:

Michelle Obama for Vogue??

WWD reports that we might see Michelle Obama on the cover of Vogue soon after the inauguration of president elect Barack Obama:
The article, by Stephanie D. Smith says, "Vogue has been campaigning for a Michelle Obama cover since last September — both in print and in person. Editor in chief Anna Wintour and contributing editor André Leon Talley hosted several fund-raisers for the Obamas last summer, rallying the fashion community’s support for the Illinois senator."
Ok Andre!! The article goes on to say that despite Vogue's best efforts, Ebony or Essence might get to them first. "The Chicago-based title [Ebony] is quickly assembling a special January issue dedicated to Barack Obama’s candidacy...Essence is also said to be working on a special package for its January issue, but details have not been hammered out."
Hmmm, so Ebony, Essence, or Vogue?? Which do you think she'll choose?

Pink Cherie Election Day Contest!

Hey!
So on Tuesday, I asked you guys to send in pictures of what you wore to vote or pix of yourself after you finished voting. A few of you sent in some fabulousness. Let's check it out!
First Adrienne says, "I am a sophomore at Tuskegee University! Since this is my first presidential election, not only did I have to vote, but I had to look cute and represent Obama as well!"
"... The shirt has a picture of Obama as a card and it says "If America plays its cards right, not only will it make history, but we'll make a positive change in America!" I also have on a cute red jacket and red velvet flats with a lace and plaid scarf. I hope you like and I really hope that me and Obama win!" Well Obama won...I think Adrienne's a winner too!
Reader AJ snapped a pic in her car:
She says, "I'm a voter here in Atlanta and I stood in line for 1.5 hours to help turn my state BLUE this election. Here's my voter pic and you'll see I have the sticker to prove I came, I saw, I conquered early voting in Georgia." That's right!
And lastly Lady B sent an e-mail with the subject, "My Voting was Priceless"...
She says, "I know you can't truly see my fit but I'm so proud of myself and our people for stepping up for a change!" And it worked!
Well I think everyone should get a Fashion Bomb T just for voting and sending in a pic! But there can only be one winner of the Pink Cherie earrings. Who should it be? Leave a comment and let me know!

First Lady Outfit Ideas: Michelle Obama

Yooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!
So I'm checking my CNN from Paris, and I see headlines!
Headlines like 'Change has come to America' and 'Obama claims Historic Presidential Win."
Yes!
Yes!
Yes we DID!!!!!!
We at The Fashion Bomb are no stranger to politics or fashion, and of course had to bless this day with a post not about Obama, but about his fly wife, Michelle:
Just like Barack's changed the game in politics, Michelle's style has completely redefined First Lady chic. Her bold-colored sheaths, flip hairdo, and funky accessories broadcast that it's OK to be trendy, creative, and a little edgy:
Michelle's calendar will now be chock-full of events (and will require more wardrobe changes than a Mimi concert!). So we here at the FB have done our patriotic duty and rounded-up a few outfit suggestions for First Lady Obama--don't y'all just love how that sounds? We're political, funky, fly: check what we came up with:
