Diddy is Unforgivable: Copyright Infringement?

TMZ reports that sculptor Tom Patti is suing the indomitable Diddy for copyright infringement, alleging that the bottle for Diddy's Unforgivable fragrance looks eerily similar to one of his vintage creations (left):
Diddy's camp declined to comment (which looks a little suspect), but honestly the design is so simple, someone could have come up with that on their own.
What do you think? Copy or coincidence?

I think it will be easy to argue that Patti's design was used as an inspiration. This is no different from what all artists and creatives do, you look around in your surroundings to find things that will inspire your own creations. I don't think anything is extremely wrong with it, because from the angle of the pictures you have presented, it seems that the two are different enough to not fall under copyright infringement. Just my opinion.

you should take a lesson in copyright infringement as well clair...this whole set up, even down to the exact wording and placement of the pictures is a total rip-off of fashionista.com. where has all the creativity gone?

Whoa, be easy there Anonymous number two. It's a known fact that bloggers share pics and info.

As for the Diddy thing it seems like B.S. to me. The bottles look similar but, different enough that you can tell they were done by different people. The Tom Patti guy just needs money, he is an artist and it is a recession.
